• ՆՀԲ համարում է իբր ցածուկ։ Հիւնք. ծագել բայից։ Աճառ. ՀԱ 1899, 232բ համարում է անգործածական *ծակ «ծածկել, թաքցնել» արմատից կրկըն-ուած, իբր *ծածակ, երկրորդ եզրի փոփոխութեամբ ծածուկ։ Karst, Յու-շարձան 415 մոնգոլ. toxom, tokum, թունգուզ. tokum, մանչու toxuma «թամբի ծածկոց»։

Սչ. ձաձուգ, Ոզմ. ծածօկ. կովկասեան բարբառներում չկայ։-Նոր բառեր են ծածկերես, ծածկե-բնակ, ծածկորդ, ծածկուկ, ծածք։ Վերջինը ենթադրում է *ծած արմատ, որ սակայն գոյութիւն չունի. ուստի պէտք է կարծել՝ որ կազմուած է ծածկ-ել բայից. դրա համար էլ գրւում է նաև ծածկ։
• ՓՈԽ.-Հայ բոշայ. ծասխը-կարիչ «ծած-կել, խնամել». աւելորդ վերջաւորութեանց համար հմմտ. կարել, ծամել, քսել և քար-շել բայերը։
