Նիկեֆորոս Կալսթասի Պատմութեան և Աթէնքի Միլե-տիոս արքեպիսկոպոսի Եկեղեցական պատ-մութեան մէջ, որ Ջենատիոս Սքոլարիոս սար-կաւագի ձեռքով համառօտուելով տպուած է նախ Զմիւռնիա (1861) և յետոյ արաբերէն թարգմանութեամբ՝ Երուսաղէմ (1867), այն ժամանակի յունաց Երուսաղէմի պատրիարք Կիւրեղի հրամանով։ Սրա իններորդ գլխի թարգմանութիւնն ունի Երուսաղէմի Սիօն ամ-սագիրը (Չ տարի, 1871, մայիս, թիւ 5, էջ 100), ուր մեր բառը դարձել է յն. արթէզֆոո-թէզ կամ արթէզֆոռ։ Առասպելի մի ուրիշ ձևն ունին ռումինա-ցիք, որոնց մէջ բառը դարձել է արցիվուրցի։ Ռումին առասպելի մէջ արցիվուրցի է կոչւում մի հայ աւագերէցի շունը։ Աւագերէցը անտա-ռով անցնելիս մոլորուել և այդ շան միջոցով կարողացել է գտնել ճանապարհը։ Հայերը աւդ շունը սրբերի կարգն են դասել և ի պա-տիւ նրա՝ Ս. • = Ակնյայտնի կերպով կապ ունի հնխ. šteigh-«երթալ, սանդուխի աստիճաններից վեր բարձրանալ» արմատի հետ, որի ժա-ռանոնեռն են սանս. stigh, յն. στείγω «եր-թալ, յառաջանալ», στίχος «կարգ, շարք», στοιχὲω «կարգով առաջ երթալ», գոթ. stei-gan, հբգ. stigan, նբգ. steigen ღելանել, սանդուխից բարձրանալ», stiege «աստիճան, սանդուխ», հսլ. stigna «գալ, հասնիլ», stid-za «շաւղ», լիթ. staigá «շտապ, յանկար-ծակի», հիսլ. tiagaim «երթալ, քայլել» ևն։ Աստիճան բառի հնգոյն ձևն է *աստէճան, որի հետ ճշտիւ համաձայն են հնխ. steigh. արմատի առաջին երկու բաղաձայնները և երկբարբառը. դժուարութիւն են հանում մի-այն նախաձայն ա (հմմտ. սակայն աստղ) և վերջաձայն gh, որ հայերէնում սովորաբար տալիս է գ, սակայն կարող է լինել նաևջ (ինչ. ջեր, ջերմ) և թերևս ձ, ժ (օձ, իժ), բայց ո՛չ բնաւ ճ։ Դժբախտաբար իրանեանում ա-սանդուած չէ բառս, որով կարելի չէ նաև ստուգել թէ իրանեանից փոխառութիւն չէ՞ արդեօք։-Աճ. Բ. թիւ 42, էջ 180 աս «ասել, խօսք, շունչ» և տուած, որ է «տուող» բառերից։ Windischm. էջ 20 «լինել» բառից, ինչ. զնդ. astvañt «աշխարհ»։ Gosche էջ 7 նոյն կարծիքն ունի։ Կովկաս լրագիր, Տփ. 1847, թ. 15 աշտուած, այսինքն յաշտիւք պատուեալ կամ հաշտեալ։ Bötticher, Arioa 63 և Lagarde, Urqesch. Arm. 503 զնդ. astvat «գոյութիւն ունեցող»։ Մսեր Մսերեանց, Ճռաքաղ 1861, էջ 8-10 հաւաքում է մինչև այն ժամանակ եղած ստուռառա-նութիւնները, որոնցից լաւագոյնն է հա-մարում Խոսրով Անձևացու մեկնութիւ-նը՝ աստ էած. բայց աստ համարելով «հառտումն. ստեղծումն» և ո՛չ թէ «աստ, այստեղ»։ Տե՛ս նոյնպէս նոյն հեղինա-
