Altarm. 40 առ մասնիկ+ստաղ, որ հա-մեմատում է յն. στεγος «պոռնկանոց», στέγη «յարկ. տուն», հսլ. cтеля, լիթ. stogas «տանիք» բառերի հետ (տե՛ս և թաքչել)։ Վերևի մեկնութիւնը տուած էի, երբըս-տառուեռ Liden-ի ստուգաբանութիւնը, հրտր. Göteborgs Hogskolas Arsskrift, 1933, էջ 41-42։ Հեղինակը նոյնպէս ա-ռաստաղ մեկնում է առ նախդիրով հնխ. çtel-արմատից, բայց առնում է Stel-«տարածել, փռել» և ո՛չ թէ stel-«հաս-տատել»։ Իր մեկնութեան հետ ճշտիւ հա-մաձայն են գալիս հսլ. stelja «առաս-տաղ» և ռուս. стель «սենեակի ծածք», որոնք նոյն stel-«տարածել» արմատից են բխում։ Բայց աւելի յարմար է թվում stel-«հաստատել», իբրև շինարարա-կան բառ։ Նշանակութեան կողմից էր բոլորովին նոյնանում է տանս. sthála-«գետին», ըստ որում հյ. առաստաղ նը-շանակում է նաև «սենեակի յատակը»։ Բայց թերևս պէտք է և իրար հետ նոյ-նաոնել հնխ. stel-«տարածել» և stel-«հաստատել», որոնք Pokorny 2, 643 իբրև առանձին արմատ է յիշում։ Առա-ջինի տակ սակայն ունի միայն հսլ. štelja «տարածել» և լտ. latus «լայն». ուրիշ լեզուների մէջ չէ աւանդուած։ Drnout-Meillet 501 թէև ւշում է la-tus=stelja կապակցութիւնը, բայց բա-ւական անվստահ ձևով։ Արդէն Boisacq Չ08 հսլ. stelja «տարածել» դնում է հնխ. sthel-«կանգնիլ» արմատի տակ, որով ընդունած է լինում երկու արմատ-ների նոյնութիւնը։
