Արմաւիրի չերքեզա-հայերը zam, Սղերդի արաբախօս քրիստո-նեաները žam, «պատարագ» (Բիւր. 1899, 116), էնկիւրիի թրքախօս հայերը՝ǰam «եկե-ղեցի», ǰamaser «ժամասեր», ǰamgos «ժամ-կոչ», ǰamos «ժամուց», axšam žamə «իրի-կուայ մօտ խմելը» (Բիւր. 1898, 789, 865)։ Սրանց միջոցով էլ բառս անցել է նաև օտար-ներին. այսպէս՝ էնկիւրիի թուրքերն ու յոյ-ներն էլ ունին axšam zamə, Եւդ. թրք. գւռ. [arabic word] zámgōc «ժամկոչ» (Յուշարձան 330 ա), Տ. թրք. գւռ. ženkos «ժամկոչ» (Բիւր. 1899, 798). նոյն իսկ Պօլսի մէջ օտարները, մասնաւորապէս հայոց հետ խօսակցութեան ժամանակ, գործածում են ժամ «եկեղեցի» բառը՝ թուրքերը žam, յոյները ǰam ձևով։ Ուտ. ժամուկալ «ժամասաց», ժամհար «ժամ-հար», իսկ zamanag «ժամանակ» ուղղակի իրանեանից է։
