Ք.), լտ. barbitus, վրաց. ბარბითი բարբիթի, ֆրանս. berbith «արաբ-ներին յատուկ մի տեսակ չորեքաղի նուառա-բան»։ Հայերէնը չի կարող լինել յունարէնից i-ի պատճառաւ, մանաւանդ որ Ուռհայեցու ժամանակ զուր է փնտռել յունական ազդե-ռութիւն։ Փոխառեալ է նոր պարսկերէնից կամ արաբերէնից, ինչպէս հաստատում է ռւ ձայնաւորը։
• Առաջին անգամ ՀՀԲ դրաւ յունարէնից։ Ուղիղ մեկնեցին ՆՀԲ և ՋԲ՝ դնելով պարսկերէնից։ Lag. Arm. Stud. § 365 դնում է արաբ. և պրս. ձևերը։ Հիւբշ. 343 դնում է յունարէնից։
