• = Իրանեան փոխառութիւն է. հմմտ. սանս. barhis «զոհաբերության ժամանակ նստելու բարձիկ՝ աստուածների և զոհաբե-րողների համար», զնդ. barəziš «բարձ, ծածկոց», օսս. baz «բարձ»։ Այս բառերի եւրոպական ցեղակիցներն են՝ հպրուս. bal-sinis «բարձ», pobalso «գլխի բարձ, սնար», գալլ. bulga «քսակ», սերբ. blazina «փե-տուրէ անկողին», blazinja «բարձ», հբգ. bolstar, անգլ. bolster, հհիւս. bolstr, գերմ. Polster «բարձ» ևն (տե՛ս Hick l2, էջ 492 Kluge 374), որոնց նախաձևն է հնխ. bhelg'h։ Հայ. բարձ չի կարող բնիկ լինել, որովհետև հնխ. bhelg'h ձևի դէմ պիտի ունենայինք *րեղձ, կամ եթէ ենթադրենք, որ հայերէնը ծագած լինի հնխ. bhjg'h ստորին ձայն-դարձից, այն ժամանակ պիտի ոնենայինք *բաղձ. յամենայն դէպս միշտ ղ-ով և ո՛չ թէ ը-ով։ Վերջինը իրանական փոխառու-թեան ապացոյցն է։ Բուն պարսկերէնում barz ձևը չկայ, այլ ունինք միայն պրս. [arabic word] bāliš կամ [arabic word] bālīn, պհլ. bāusn քրդ. bālišt, bālišne, bā̄līv, bālge, վախի baleš, սար. balax (տե՛ս Horn, Grdr. § 172)։ Սակայն պէտք է որ հնապէս գոյու-թիւն ունեցած լինի նաև *barz ձևը, որից էլ յառաջանում է հյ. բարձ բառը (հմմտ. Հիւբշ. Pers. Stud. 221-3)։ Ըստ Lidén, Arm. Stud. 44, ծան. նոյն բառն է նաև պրս. bai «թև, անասունի երի»<*bard< *barz, որով հայերէն բառի կրկին իմաստ-ները (գլխի բարձ և մարմնի բարձք) երե-ման են գալիս պարսկականում։ (Տե՛ս Po-korny 2, 182)։ Հիւբշ. I Anz. 10, 45։
• ՀՀԲ, ՆՀԲ և ՓԲ երկուսն էլ (թէ՛ «գլխի բարձ» և թէ՛ «մարմնի բարձերը») դնում են բառնալ, բարձող, բարձը բառերից։ Bötticher. Rudimenta Myth Semit. 1848, էջ 35 և Lag. Urgesch. 716 բարձք (մարմնի) համեմատում են ռուս. бepцo «սրունքի ոսկորը» բառի հետ։ Bötticher ZDMG 1850, 351 և Lagarde, Urgesch. 660 ուղիղ մեկնեցին բարձ (գլխի) համեմատելով սանս.
