[arabic word] gām «քայլ»։ Պարսիկ բառը թէև ձևով համաձայն, բայց նշանակութեան կողմից չի յարմարում մեր բառին. այս-աէս նաև իրանեան միւս ձևերը, ինչ. պհլ. պազենդ. gām, զնդ. gāma-«քայլ, քայլաչափ» (Bartholomae, 522)։ Զուր տեղը Lagarde հյ. գամ բառը թարգ-մանում է «քայլ» և գամ քան զգամ մեկնում է «քայլ առ քայլ»։ Յայտնի է, որ հյ. բառը այսպիսի նշանակութիւն չունի։ Եւ զարմանալի է, որ Հիւբշ. 126 առանց երկբայութեան ընդունում է այս մեկնութիւնը, դնելով հյ. գամ՝ իբրև ի-րանեան փոխառութիւն։ Հիւնք. գամ, գամագիւտ դնում է գոմ բառից, իսկ ռամ մի, գամ քան զգամ դնում է ան-գամ բառից։ Թիրեաքեան, Բանաս։ 1ՉՈՈ. 315 նոյն ընդ կամք և պրս. • ԳՒՌ.-Տփխիսի բարբառը պահում է գամ «անգամ» նշանակութեամբ. այսպէս՝ էս «ա-մօքը «այս անգամ», մէ գամ «մի անգամ», շատ գամ «շատ անգամ»։-ՆՀԲ հտ. Ա. 526 բ, Այտընեան, Քննակ. քեր. էջ 126, Մէնէ-վիշեան, Յուշարձան, 265 աշխարհաբարի կամաց «մեդմ» բառը հանում են գամ քան զգամ, գամաց ի գամս ձևերից. հմա. մի-ջին հյ. ի գամէ։ Բայց այս բանը չի կարող ուղիղ լինել, որովհետև ունինք Ակն. գամաց, Տփ. կամաց, Երև.
