Տīv «գորշագոյն», լիթ. šῦ-vas «ճերմակ ձի», չեխ. sivy, սլով. siy. ռուս. cивыи, հին պրուս. sуwan «գորշ», որոնց պատկանում են նաև իրան. *siyāv և հյ. սեաւ (Pokorny 1, 361, Walde 107, Boisacq 156 Trautmann 306)։ «Սև» բառի նման մի շատ հասարակ բառի փոխառեալ լինելը իրանեանից՝ մեկնւում է (բացի այն՝ որ բո-ւոր գլխաւոր գոյները փոխառեալ են իրա-նեանից, ինչ. կարմիր, կապոյտ, սպիտակ,-գոյն, երանգ) նաև թաբուով։ Արդի բերբե-րական լեզուների մէջ ընդհանրապէս խու-սափում են արտասանել «սև» բառը և ամէն մի գաւառ ունի առանձին մի ձև՝ արտայայ-տելու համար այս իմաստը։ Դրա համար է որ հնդևրոպական լեզուների մէջ չկայ «սև իմաստով ընդհանուր բառ։ Հին է սանս. krsná-= հպրուս. kirsnan=հսլ. črunū «սև». բաւզ այս խմբից դուրս՝ ուրիշ լեզունեռև մէջ չի գտնւում (Meillet BSL Л 84, էջ 45-46)։-Հիւբշ. 489։
