Գրքի եբրայական բնագրի մէջ բառիս դէմ գտնում ենք [hebrew word] šānī, որ մեկնւում է «որդնաբեր կաղնու (quercus coccitera) տե-րևների վրայից հաւաքուած որդան կարմիր ներկը (coccus ilicis) և նրանով ներկուած կտոր». յոյն թարգմանութեան մէջ դրուած է φοινίϰεος «շառագոյն կարմիր», իսկ ա-ոաբն ունի «մուր կամ թանձրածուխ, ռմկ, իս, խուրում»։ Մեր հին մեկնիչները զանա-զան տեսակ են հասկացած այս բառը և զա-նազան իմաստներով գործածած.-այսպէս՝ Մագիստրոս հասկանում է «մութ սև ոռւն». հմմտ. II, էջ 231, տող 40), ուր ձանձախարիթ բառի համապատասխանն է ὄρφνινος «մութ գոյն» (մանաւանդ սևի, կարմրի և սպիտակի խառնուրդով՝ ըստ Bailly, էջ 1408ա)։ -Ուրիշ հեղինակներից ունինք «շառա-գոյն կարմիր» Ածաբ. յայտն., «արմա-ւի գոյն» Վանակ. յոբ., «այծի մազ» Անան. յովն. (իմա՛ Անան. թրգ. էջ 9), «ծուի մածեալ յառաստաղս» Գէ. ես. Լծ. կոչ. Տօ-նակ.-իսկ Հին բռ. գրում է ձանձախ «սա-կաւակարմիր», ձանձախարիթ «վատ կար-միր, կարմրագոյն». արդի գրականում ըն-դունուած է «մուր, ծխի սևութիւնը, տճկ. խուռում»։ Երկրորդ վկայութեան մէջ (Մծբ.) ասորի բնագիրն ունի՝
