• . ընդարձակ զարգացում կրած ար-մատ. առաջին և հիմնական նշանակութիւնն է «ջարդել, կտրտել». այս իմաստով է կազ-մուած *կոճել բայը, որ առանձին աւան-դուած չէ հին մատենագրութեան մէջ, բայց կայ նրա կրկնականը կոշկոճել (փխ. *կոճկոճել), ինչպէս և մի քանի աճած ձև. վեր, որոնք են՝ կոճոպել, կոճոտանալ, կո-ճոտիլ, կոճկցել։ Սրանց վրայ տե՛ս իւրա-քանչիւրն առանձին։ Ունինք նաև *կոճիկ «ծեծելու գործիք», նորագիւտ բառ, որ գրծ. կոճկամբ ձևով մէկ անգամ գտնում եմ գոր-ծածուած Վրք. և վկ. Բ. 251 (Կոճկամբն իւրեանց անողորմ ծեծէին զբերան նորա)։ Այս առաջին իմաստից բխում են յաջորդա-բար՝ 2 «ճեւռերր կտրտուած ծառի բուն» կամ սրանից յառաջացած «կաղամբի կոթ, կոչան». այս նշանակութիւնը՝ որ անյայտ է բառարաններին, մէկ անգամ գտնում եմ գոր-ծածուած Յաւսմ. մըտ. 4 «Ջայնքան աւուր-սըն ոչինչ ճաշակեալ, բայց յամէն կիրա-կէի ուտէր կոճ մի կաղամբի». որից ո մաս-նիկով՝ կոճղ (ղ հլ. սեռ. կոճեղ) «ծառի բուն» Գէ. ես. «փայտի խոշոր կտոր» Ագաթ. «բանտարկեալների ոտքը պնդելու մեծ գե-րան» Յոբ լգ. 11. գծ. ժզ. 24, Եւս. պտմ. և քր. «մարդու իրան» Մարթին. կոճակ «փայ-տի մեծ կտոր» Յայսմ. «մեղուի փեթակ» Վստկ. 192. Սմբ. դատ. 152. 3. «Գեռան». այս իմաստով գործածուած է կոճ բառը Եզեկ. խա. 2, 3. «Խոյակք կոճոց դրանն կամ մտից»։ ՆՀԲ այս բառը հասևանում է «կոզակ կամ կողմանոց շի-նուածոյ որ բոլորովին սխալ է», ՋԲ մեկ-նում է «դրանդի», որ ստոյգ է։ Կոճ՝ որ ընդ-հանրապէս նշանակում է «գերան», տո-նուած է այստեղ յատուկ առումով և նշա-նակում է այն երկու գերանները՝ որոնք դռան աջ ու ձախ բարաւորներն են կազմում. Այս բանը ցոյց է տալիս յոյն բնագիրը՝ որ վերոյիշեալ տեղն ունի ἔπωμίς «դռան բա-րաւոր, montant d'une porte»։ Նոյնն են հաստատում նաև հին մեկնիչները. այսպէս՝ Նչ. եզեկ. մեկնում է. «Խոյակս կոճոց դրանն զդարձեկացն ասէ. (դարձեակ նորագիւտ բառը նշանակում է «գերան». հմմտ. դար-ձեկ Խրբ. «տանիքի հիմնական գերանների վրայ՝ նրանց հակառակ շարքով շարուած փոքր գերանները»). խոյակ կոճոց՝ որ ի վերայ որմին դնեն յայսկոյս և յայնկոյս, ապա զդրանդիքն դնեն»։ Ըստ Թորամա-նեանի (անձնական) վերոյիշեալ կոճը նշա-նակում է «դռան երկու կողքի սիւները՝ ո-րոնք գլխից միացած են շրջանակով և շէն-քի մարմնից մի քիչ դուրս են ընկած»։ 4. «Մարմի վրայ դուրս ցցուած ոսկրա-«ոտքի թաթից մի քիչ բարձր՝ երկու կողմից դուրս ցցուած ոսկորները» Վրք. հց. Բ. 381 «մատերի յօդերը» Ճառընտ. Պտմ. մծբ. 61. «վէգ» Պտմ. աղէքս. կոճակ «ոտքի կոճ» Ոսկիփ. որից կոճկոճել Վրք. և վկ. Ա. 195, որ մի քիչ վերևը կոչւում է կոճ կոճ լուծա-նել։ 5. «Գնտաձև ուռուցքներ կամ մասեր՝ բոյ-ռերի վրայ». որից կոճակ «բոյսի ակնուռ ծիլերի ուռեցքը կամ աչքը» Վստկ. 24. կոճ-ղէզ (որ և կոճղիզ, կոճողէզ, կոճողիզ) «բոյ-սերի տակի սոխը» Գաղիան. կոն վրացի կամ վրացի կոճ «եղեբորոս բոյսը, hellebo-τus» Բժշ.
