Մկրտչեանը (անձնական) դիտել տուեց, որ պէտք է զանազանել երկու տեսակ ջորի. մին՝ արու էշի և էգ ձիու խառնուրդից յառա-ջացածը և երկրորդը՝ արու ձիու և էգ էշի խառնուրդից յառաջացածը. հայե-րէնում կարող էին սրանք զանազանուած լինել՝ առաջինը ջորի և երկրորդը մուղ բառով, թէև այսպիսի նուրբ զանազա-նութիւն ուրիշ լեզուի մէջ գոյութիւն չու-նի։ Այսպէսով մուղ դառնում էր «ջորի» և կապւում յայտնապէս լտ. mula հո-մանիշի հետ։ Պարսկաստան եղած ժա-մանակս ստուգեցի սակայն, որ ջորին միայն էգ ձիուց է ծնւում և էգ էշից ջո-րի չի յառաջանում։ Նոյնը ցոյց է տա-լիս նաև Առաք. լծ. սահմ. 276. «Կիս-էշն ջորին է և նա յիշոյ լինի և ոչ ձիոյ. այսինքն զի հարկ է որ էշն ի ձին վազէ և ի կով. և ոչ ձին յէշն վազէ կամ ի կով. և թէ ձին վազէ՝ ոչ ինչ ծնանի, այլ յիշոյ լինի»։ Այսպէսով Տէր-Մկրտչեանի ենթադրութիւնը չստուգուեցաւ։ Սակայն ստոյգ չէ նաև իմ տուած «գրաստ, ձի» նշանակութիւնը և բառը պէտք է հաս-կանալ «էգ էշ», ինչպէս ցոյց է տալիս ասորին։ Եւ շատ հաւանական է՝ որ հայ թարգմանութեան իբր բնագիր ծառայող օրինակումն էլ նոյն ասորի բառն էր գործածուած։ Կարելի չէ հյ. մուղ կցել լտ. mūlus «ջորի» բառին իբրև հնդևրո-պական ցեղակից, որովհետև հնխ. ձևն է mug'h-, որի վրայ աւելանալով -so, -slo, -sko մասնիկները, ստացուել են վենետ. musso «էշ», յն. փոկ. μυχλός «ցիռ», ալբ. mušk «ջորի», լտ. mulus «ջորի», նուազականը muscellus, muš-cella և լատինականից էլ ֆրանս. mu le, mulet, գերմ.
